Barbara S. Edson, RN, MBA, MHAManager, Hospital Patient Safety Services
Ms. Edson received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI , and her Master of Business Administration/Master of Health Administration from Pfeiffer University in Charlotte, North Carolina. A native of the Boston area, Ms. Edson has more than 20 years of experience in nursing management, specializing in pediatrics/neonatal nursing. Additionally, she has had consulting and project management experience in commissioning two large state hospitals. In her position as the manager of Hospital Patient Safety Services at The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence, Ms. Edson is responsible for assisting hospitals in improving patient safety.
Joanna Haynes Administrative Support Ms. Haynes provides administrative support to Hospital Patient Safety Services. With tenure at The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence spanning almost 15 years, she also supports the Outpatient team.
Eric S. Jackson, MA Lead Analyst Mr. Jackson holds a Bachelor of Arts in financial economics from UNC-Asheville and a Master of Arts in applied economics and econometrics from UNC-Greensboro. His graduate studies focused on the application of statistical methods and predictive models in applied settings. Mr. Jackson is an analyst I for the Hospital team, Hospital Patient Safety Services Team, and the External Quality Review Team. Through his tenure at CCME, he has been involved with the following projects: Preparing for Public Reporting Collaborative, Surgical Infection Prevention Collaborative, and the Preventing Patient Falls pilot initiative .
Meera Kelley, MD Clinical Process Improvement Consultant
Dr. Kelley serves as a clinical coordinator for CCME. She is a clinical associate professor of medicine at UNC-CH in the division of infectious diseases. Her main areas of interest are antibiotic resistance and surgical site infection. Dr. Kelley attended the Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, completing her infectious diseases fellowship at UNC-CH.
Erica Morrison, MS Associate, Hospital Patient Safety Services
Ms. Morrison received a Master of Science degree in gerontology from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Va. Her work focused on healthcare planning and organization. Ms. Morrison served as the collaborative coordinator for Hospital Patient Safety Services during its Preventing Patient Falls pilot initiative and currently serves as associate for HPSS. She has experience in quality improvement models and managing collaboratives.
